Advancing Access Toolkit

Our friends at the NCD Alliance and University of Geneva NCD Policy Lab have created an incredible toolkit as part of the Global Week for Action on NCDs 2026.

Launched on the 3rd of September, the Advancing Access: A practical advocacy toolkit for improving access to NCD medicines, diagnostics and medical devices is attached below:

The toolkit is a practical guide to holding governments accountable for delivering equitable access to essential NCD medicines, diagnostics and medical devices. It outlines five main steps in the pharmaceutical value chain to help advocates identify barriers, gather evidence and develop context-specific advocacy strategies:

See on page 25, a case study provided by CLAN (Caring & Living As Neighbours) sharing experiences working with community to improve access to medicines and technologies. CLAN's case study shares a key message emerging from the @MATES4Kids Network: Collective action to involve people with lived experience and address NCD community priorities directly contributes to accurate demand data and health system strengthening.

NCD Alliance have also published this Brief outlining the NCD access community's priorities for improving access to medicines and medical devices in the context of the 2026 3rd International Dialogue on Sustainable Financing for NCDs and Mental Health and the 2027 UN High-Level Meeting on Universal Health Coverage.
