70th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70)


​The seventieth session of the Commission on the Status of Women took place in March 2026 at the United Nations' Headquarters in New York.

The priority theme of the session was: 
Ensuring and strengthening access to justice for all women and girls, including by promoting inclusive and equitable legal systems, eliminating discriminatory laws, policies, and practices, and addressing structural barriers. 

The review theme was: 
Women’s full and effective participation and decision-making in public life, as well as the elimination of violence, for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls

Additionally, CLAN UN Youth Representatives (Tara Chelvam and Samiha Islam) presented at an in-person side-event co-hosted with Lehigh University on 20 March 2026 (see poster above).

The title of this side event is "Health as a Human Right - Seeking Justice across Three Continents" and continues to raise awareness of the need for action to protect and promote the rights of children living with special health needs to affordable access to essential medicines and technologies as we address the intertwined global crises of climate change and Non-Communicable Diseases.

@MATES4Kids is an international movement committed to reducing the preventable mortality associated with Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia (CAH). CLAN (Caring & Living As Neighbours) is the founding Secretariat of @MATES4Kids and this Activity Report captures key initiatives and achievements of the movement from January 2022 to June 2023.

Acknowledgement of Country. In the spirit of reconciliation, @MATES4Kids acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia and the connections of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to land, sea and community.
