Maintaining the Health of Children with Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia in Indonesia
Supporting Families with Education, Resources, and Healthcare Services in Central Jakarta

Picture
The KAHAKI Foundation, in partnership with Central Jakarta hospitals, is launching a project to improve the diagnosis, treatment, and awareness of Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia (CAH) in Indonesia. This initiative, led by a team of medical experts, aims to address the critical gaps in healthcare access, education, and community support for families dealing with CAH.

CAH is a rare genetic disorder that can lead to salt-wasting crises, ambiguous genitalia in females, and severe health issues if left undiagnosed or untreated. The lack of public knowledge and healthcare infrastructure in many regions of Indonesia, combined with the high costs of diagnosis and treatment, often results in delayed interventions and poor health outcomes.

The primary objectives of this project include:
  • Educating Healthcare Providers: Training programs will be developed for healthcare workers in the region, covering early detection, proper management protocols, and referral processes for CAH patients. Updated reference materials will also be distributed to standardize care across local health facilities.
  • Raising Public Awareness: Social media campaigns will educate the public on the signs, symptoms, and importance of early diagnosis of CAH. Community leaders will also be engaged to reduce stigma and promote a supportive environment for affected families.
  • Providing Access to Affordable Care: The project will work with local healthcare providers to offer discounted diagnostic tests and medications for CAH, which will help families manage the financial burden.
  • Creating Support Networks: The foundation will establish support groups and conduct seminars to help caregivers and patients connect, share experiences, and receive emotional and psychological support. These groups will also address specific challenges faced by families living with CAH.

Through these efforts, the project aims to improve the quality of life for children with CAH in Central Jakarta, enhance early diagnosis rates, and create a supportive community for affected families.
